Education/Training

Division 29 Education & Training Domain

The goal of the Education and Training Committee is to advance opportunities for high quality education and training among current and future psychotherapy practitioners, supervisors, teachers, and researchers. The committee works to enhance psychotherapy education by promoting dialogue about how to optimally implement and assess psychotherapy teaching and learning, identifying relevant priorities, and disseminating content on emerging ideas and trends. The committee provides regular articles in Psychotherapy Bulletin as well as additional information and opportunity for dialogue on the APA Division 29 website. Recent committee work has emphasized therapist competencies to apply the empirical literature with specific cases, e.g., using case formulation methods and principles of evidence-based practice.
