December 1st Deadline for 2010 APA Proposals
I will be chairing the Division 29 Program for APA 2010 in San Diego, and would like to encourage Division members to submit proposals for the August 2010 Convention. The deadline for submitting proposals is Tuesday, December 1, 2009. Please note that we will not be accepting proposals for individual papers, but all other formats–posters, symposia, panel discussions, and workshops–will be considered. I’ve attached APA’s Call for Programs so that you have this conveniently available as you prepare your respective proposals. Please note as well that all proposals are to be submitted electronically through the APA web site at http://apacustomout.apa.org/ConvCall.
One other item of note–per APA President-Elect Dr. Carol Goodheart and the APA Presidential Task Force on Caregivers, Caregiving by family members will be a central theme of 2010’s Convention. As such, for those whose professional and/or scientific activities focus on this domain (as but one example, the needs of caregivers), please consider submissions that center on caregiver programs, service, and/or research in which you are involved. To the extent that any given Division includes programming on Caregiving, one symposium from each such Division will be highlighted in the Convention Program with a special Presidential Caregiver Initiative logo. APA has also indicated that at the Convention a Presidential Citation will be presented during the opening ceremony to a national figure recognized for his/her work in calling attention to the needs of caregivers.
I look forward to putting together an exciting and diverse program for our Division for next August’s Convention. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions whatsoever.
Best Regards,
Jack Anchin
